Art By Cameryn Pool

"My art is a representation of the peculiar things we do in life and sends a message that just existing is okay, and your purpose in life is just to be. It releases the pressure of the constantly changing standards, especially in a teenage world."

Poem by Darah Moreland

"Feminism has always been important to me. This poem reflects on how negative feminism appears when its purpose is to uplift girls and women who have been silenced. I titled it "What they don't see" because I find people often say "feminism isnt needed!" when in reality it's often the quietest moments or busiest crowds where that idea is lost. It's also a reflection of a time I called out someone's sexist behavior and everyone laughed at me for it, which silenced my voice further. I used a terza rima rhyme scheme, ABA, BCB, etc. In the line where I discuss breaking the pattern, I literally break this pattern in the poem."

"The first two are linoleum block prints of an inverted moon. The third is colored pencil on cardboard. Coincidentally they all have a moon. I have multiple interpretations for my artwork, but overall, there is a focus on societal disconnection and loneliness. These pieces aren’t exactly activism, more just reflection and awareness."

"We should never let anyone or anything take away our creativity nor our ability to create."

Art by Shelby Smith

"My art shows a scale with two gender but they are not equal, the female gender is being weighed down more than the male gender in this scale ."

Poem by Emery Smith

This poem highlights the intense fear during a school shooting, inspired by school shooting survivor interviews available on the Sandy Hook Promise website. What children go through every day in school is devastating, and it’s completely preventable. I wrote this poem in an attempt to capture the horror and suspense in just a small moment. A moment that will permanently shift and even end lives.
